April is on its way out and as much as I love a month that is practically dedicated to eating leftover Easter chocolate, I’m excited for May and all it has to offer. I’ll *hopefully * be attending Beauty Con, I have a trip to Amsterdam all booked up and it finally feels like spring is here. April was a great month for beauty with favourites in the form of skincare, brights, pastels and a foundation that may just be a new Holy Grail type.
I thought my polish collection had it covered when it came to pastel hues but when I spied Essie Go Ginza, I had a moment of weakness. Yes, it’s another lilac polish but it’s unlike any other I own. There’s a pinkish tone that is surprisingly attractive for someone who usually finds pinks sickly sweet. An added bonus is that the white-based tone makes you look super-tanned, even if you’re a bit on the pale side like me.
When it comes to moisturisers, I’m a bit of a floozy. I’ve never found “the one” y’know. The usually hot weather means that the air-con has had an early switch on at work and my skin’s been suffering since. I dug out Elizabeth Arden’s Flawless Future Moisture Cream on a whim and I haven’t looked back since. It’s an extremely light cream but it’s also super hydrating and a little goes a long way. There’s no annoying balling up when used over other products and it creates a great base for makeup. It’s a good all-rounder.
With dry skin being the main issue this month; the MV Organic Rose Plus Booster has dominated my bedtime skincare routine. Let’s gloss over the eye-watering price tag and get to why it’s worth it. No other oil leaves my skin looking as plump, radiant, glowing, all the positive skin-related adjectives. A little does go a long way and it sinks quickly meaning less product ends up all over the pillow. So pricey it may be but sorry, not sorry and all that.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk has been my “going out out” base of choice for the longest time but it may have knocked off the top spot. I found Laura Mercier’s original Silk Crème foundation far too thick and heavy but for the new Moisturising Edition, it was love at first swatch. I’ll spare you more raves as I discussed it here but it’s a winner for sure.
The Internet was abuzz with rave reviews for these budget friendly Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Glosses last year and I’ve finally come around to the gloss gang. The shade Glorious Grapefruit is a punchy coral/orange that gives just a hint of tint to the lips without any stickiness at all. It’s a great thrown-on and go type of thing and I’m a big fan of that.
