March: the month where the sun decided to make an appearance and not a moment too soon. You can’t get more typically British than an opener about the weather. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag beauty-wise with some bits leaning on the wintery side and others are making me feel well and truly ready for Spring. There’s also a bonus Netflix shout out too!
I recently got my hair chopped again and I’ve started to embrace texturising sprays once again. Bumble and Bumble’s Dry Spun Thickening Spray is a repurchase and I honestly love it. Whilst is doesn’t have as much hold as something like Oribe’s offering, it prevents my hair from becoming too limp and lifeless and adds some lived-in texture that I crave. I also spied mini versions in my local Boots so I’ve plan to pick up one that’s handbag-sized for on-the-go.
Rediscovering the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser was a high point of the month makeup wise. It can be notoriously hard to find a light base with great coverage but this hits the nail on the head. It’s pretty much great skin in a bottle with a dewy bright finish. I’m sorry Laura Mercier, I’ll never neglect you again.
On the theme of good skin, it would be rude of me not to mention my current facial oil crush from none other than Oskia. Seriously is anything they bring out short of amazing? The Restoration Oil is super light and massages in like a dream and it takes all my will power not to get a little drop happy with the pipette. I know the next morning, dry patches will be at bay and my skin will be glowing. It’s a pricey one but well worth it.
With warmer weather comes more occasions where my feet will have to leave the comfort of the boots I’ve been wearing for months on end. This means a pedicure is pretty much essential. In preparing for any toes out moments on the horizon, I’ve been painting my toes with Nails Inc Portobello. As one of the neon shades in the collection it’s bright, peppy and has me almost fooled into believing it’s summer.
I publicly declared my love of NARS Audacious Lipstick in Liv here but when I started to pair it with the equally vampy MAC Lip Liner in Vino, something magical happened. I’m having a bit of a moment with lip liner (isn’t everyone?) and you’ll be hard pushed to find a brand with as many shades for choice than MAC. Vino is a deep dark berry-tone that can be built up to an almost black kinda purple. Pairing it with lipstick just makes everything last longer and I’m less likely to end up with a smudgy purple chin which believe it not, isn’t a good look.
I have to admit I shrugged off spray-on moisturisers as bit of a gimmick but curiosity got the better of me and I picked up the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturiser. I now have to eat a big ol’ slice of humble pie. I have super dry skin so moisturising after showering is a must to avoid the dreaded scaly arms. Whilst it doesn’t give you the same kind of moisture that something like a body butter or cream would, it’s the perfect post-shower quick fix. As an added bonus, it smells amazing.
When I heard Tina Fey and fellow 30 Rock writer Rob Carlock were working on something new, to say I was excited is an understatement. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has possibly the darkest premise for a sitcom ever but is somehow sweet and hilarious too. Obviously I don’t want to reveal any spoilers, but there are some INCREDIBLE cameos that would be worth the watch alone. The ultimate reason I love UKS is that all the female characters are kick-ass to the max. Females are strong as hell!
