There was a time when I thought the only solution to having skin that’s comparable in tone to a tomato was to pile on the foundation. The thicker the formula, the better (I’m looking at you Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse). *Shudders* Thank god I learnt my lesson and the full coverage bases are purely reserved for the rare occasions I’m out past 9pm. So for daytime wear, I’ve dabbled with the whole tinted moisturiser, CC cream but the newly released Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue may have just become my all-time favourite.
It’s described as a BB, CC, Tinted Moisturiser hybrid with a ‘gel cream’ formula which triggered both the ‘what a load of marketing BS’ and the ‘I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW THIS INSTANT’ alarms in my head. I’m an advertisers dream, I tell you. And then rave reviews starting popping up on blogs everywhere and a purchase was inevitable.
I have the shade Vanilla which is a great match for now but may be a little too light if I tan a little over summer (that’s a big if!). The formula is weightless and blends into the skin seamlessly whether using fingers or a brush but I tend to go for the former. I was a little skeptical about the ‘gel cream’ aspect as gels tend to be bad news for my dehydrated skin but the BMCR keeps skin dewy without resembling an oil slick.
With redness being my biggest bugbear, I was intrigued to see just how well BMCR would combat this. I’m happy to say it does a pretty good job of things and paired with a little of the Clarins Instant Light Concealer on my cheeks and nose which are the worst culprits, everything is evened out and I am infinitely happy.
I’ve pretty much used BMCR everyday since I bought it so there’s that.
