Lipsticks are hands down my favourite beauty product. Give me an eye shadow palette and I’ll flail around and make some kind of messy attempt at a smoky eye, but give me a lipstick and I’ll be merrily on my way. When it comes to colour or finish, I’m not too fussy but that doesn’t mean that every product wows me. To really bowl me over in the lipstick department takes something really special.
As it’s still on the chilly side, my shades of choice around this time are either dark and moody, or simple and nude. There’s definitely a pattern in my favourites – the formulas are super pigmented, while some are matte in finish and others are on the creamy side.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Licquorice – I took the opportunity to pick up a couple of products from Bite Beauty in Sephora and I wasn’t disappointed. Licquorice is a deep red shade with brown undertones that looks extra vampy against my pale complexion. Although it’s not a shade I’d reach for everyday, it’s so comfortable to wear.
MAC Lipstick in Velvet Teddy – You’d have to be living under a rock to have no heard of Velvet Teddy. The ultimate browny-nude hue that was sold out forever due to an affiliation with a certain celebrity teen. Don’t let that put you off though. This is the best ‘cool girl’ shade that works on everyone.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Liv – Yes, I’ve talked about the NARS Audacious lipsticks to death so I won’t bore you again. Liv is a deep, deep purple that looks terrifying in the bullet but when pressed into the lips, it gives a gorgeous stained effect.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Pepper – Another love from Bite Beauty and this time it’s a nude. Pepper is slightly rosier than other nudes I own making it the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade. Again the formula is spot on.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte – Although it looks similar to Licquorice in the bullet, this red is far pinker in tone. It’s also super pigmented and just downright b-e-a-utiful to wear.
