When the alarm goes off each morning, it’s safe to say there’s absolutely nothing Beyonce-like going on over here. A sign of a firm favourite in my morning skincare routine is the ability to disguise my puffy face, suitcase-like under eye bags and dry patches that like to appear post-slumber. Disclaimer: I’m also big into injecting a healthy dose hydration and glow as I have dry/normal skin so oily-skinned gals, take caution.
My absolute favourite cleanser for the morning/life is the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. When massaged into the skin, it melts into an oily formula that pretty much does all the hard work for you. I just remove with a damp washcloth and there’s no oily residue in sight. Just cleansed, dewy and incredibly happy skin remains.
An old favourite that recently crept its way back into my life is the La Roche Posay Serozinc. This Zinc Sulphate solution helps to calm and soothe skin whilst also aiding the healing of blemishes. I like to use this as a quick facial spritz in the morning and things tend to feel a little more balanced throughout the day.
In a vague attempt to reduce the ridonkulous bags under my eyes, I’ve been using the Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel. I’m not conviced on any long-term benefits as such but the gel does feel nice and cooling (especially if you pop it in the fridge overnight).
A fairly new addition to the ranks is the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Serum. Since using this, my skin has felt much more hydrated and looks plumper than ever before. It’s a must have in my stash now.
I’m a bit of a floozy when it comes to day cream but my morning moisturiser of choice at the moment is the Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Advanced Moisture Cream. Firstly, it smells lush (like all things citrusy) but it really helps to brighten lacklustre, grey morning skin and is a great base for makeup and I’d expect nothing less from the Queen of Make up herself.
So this is my current AM skincare routine that barely takes five minutes and leaves me looking bright eyed and bushy tailed even if I don’t feel like it. Be sure to check back on Thursday for my picks for PM and Sunday for all the skincare extra treats.
