Though I am partial to a good wavy do, I’ve found myself shunning the curls in order to embrace my naturally straight locks on a regular basis. Poker straight hair often has a bad rep and reminds us of a time when we all got a little over zealous with the GHD’s and a heavy anti-frizz serum was the only hair product in our arsenal. Simpler times.
I’m not sure why a straighter style has been so appealing of late. I’ll level with you; it’s partly out of laziness. But it’s mostly because my hair never holds a style so I figured that I may as well intentionally style my hair straight as it’s going to do what it damn well pleases anyway. It’s the hair equivalent of steering into the skid.
The best thing about wearing my hair almost natural is that it takes little-to-no effort. I use the GHD Eclipse Hair Straighteners and focus attention towards the ends where my hair consistently flicks out in protest. The main issue with a sleeker look is that I’m already lacking in the volume department and that is massively emphasized. To combat issues in the volume department, I use the Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray pre-blow dry to give my follicles a much-needed boost. For the ends, a dry texturising spray is ideal to leave my hair looking a little more disheveled and lived in and a good budget option is the Tresemme Perfectly UnDone Dry Defining Spray.
So there we have it. Straight Hair, Don’t Care!
