I seriously love winter. The cold crisp mornings, bundling up in a million layers to go outside, snuggling up under a blanket, not having to shave my legs for months on end – it’s bliss I tell you. But one of my absolute favourite things about the chillier months is a change up in my beauty routine and putting some of my best cold weather appropriate products to good use.
I’ve rambled on about my love of Byredo’s Mojave Ghost here, but it’s safe to say the love affair is still strong. As extremely heady scents make me dizzy, this lighter floral yet musky fragrance really floats my boat. Like any good gateway drug would, this is the beginning of an expensive habit (but more on that later).
No winter set up is complete without a candle and Malin & Goetz Dark Rum is sexiest way to burn your money. This is masculine, fruity and just encompasses the whole winter vibe while stepping away from the usual cinnamony, spicy scents. I love nothing more than to curl up in bed with the candle a-burnin’ and Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix.
Dark lips in winter go together like cheese and chips. My favourite is the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte and I promise it’s only like 23% because it shares my name. It’s a pigmented, demi-matte finish that’s so creamy and essentially feels like nothing on the lips. No dry, chapped lips for me this winter.
Neutral nails are always my top choice and I’ve loved the tone of this gel effect polish in Nudist Beach from Next of all places. This Latte-hued lacquer applies smooth and evenly. Whilst it does chip like a bastard, I love the shade so much that I’m more than willing to take on the upkeep (for now that is).
A good mask always needs to be in my beauty arsenal and Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque is a game changer. It’s a truly cleansing mask, getting right into the pores, brightening and tightening on its way. Even though the mask dries down and is honestly quite the sight to behold, it doesn’t leave my parched winter skin too dry in the process.
